Be weak

Here is another brilliant list from Seth Godin’s blog about how to demonstrate real strength. Often times we perceive leadership to be about never showing weakness. As leaders we spend an enormous amount of time covering up our flaws and deficiencies. Reality check. That’s fine if you find yourself in the 80’s and in a Rambo movie but not in today’s common sense era. Our influence as a leader is found by embracing humility, gentleness, and respect (yourself and others). Apply these 10 practices and it will not only cause change but it will change you.

Demonstrating strength by Seth Godin

Defer to others

Avoid shortcuts

Tell the truth

Offer kindness

Seek alliances

Volunteer to take the short straw

Choose the long-term, sacrificing the short

Demonstrate respect to all, not just the obviously strong

Share credit and be public in your gratitude

Risking the appearance of weakness takes strength. And the market knows it.
