Institution vs Collaboration

Clay Shirky (author, researcher, and speaker) shares about a global shift occuring in organizations. He poses the question- how do you organize people without turning them into an institution (and for free!)? Shirky states many examples of how the collaborative groups like Flickr and Meetup create maximum amount of input with minimum amount of management. In an era when it’s easier to collaborate and more expensive to institutionalize, it makes sense to make shifts now to a more organic and creative approach to leadership.
